Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026
This policy explains what Jiu-Jitsu+ ("we") collects when you use https://www.jiujitsuplus.app (the "Service"), how we use it, who can see it, and what you can do about it. It is part of our Terms of Service. In short: we collect only what we need to run a private video library for you and your gyms. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: name, username (and earlier usernames, so old links keep working), email address, and password. We store passwords only as a one-way hash, never in plain text.
- Profile: profile picture, belt rank and stripes, whether you identify as a coach, and your coach title.
- Content: videos you upload and their titles, descriptions, tags, and categories; comments, timed comments, and @mentions; collections; and coach review requests and responses.
- Gyms and connections: gyms you belong to or ask to join, your role there (owner, coach, or member), and the people you follow. For gyms you own: the logo, website, Instagram, and YouTube links.
- Settings: your email notification preferences and visibility choices.
Information from Google
If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us. We don't get your Google password or access to anything else in your Google account.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting and network providers record IP address, browser type, and request logs to deliver the Service and protect it from abuse.
- Video metadata: when we process an upload, we read technical details such as resolution, frame rate, and length. Videos can also contain embedded metadata (for example, the device used or the location where it was recorded). Our processed playback copies don't keep that metadata, but the original file you upload is stored as-is.
- Activity: things like which mentions you've read and which finished reviews you've seen, so we can show unread counts.
2. How we use it
- To create and secure your account, including confirming your email address.
- To store, process, and play your videos, and to show your content to the people you choose.
- To run gyms, memberships, follows, mentions, comments, and coach reviews.
- To send emails you've asked for or that are needed for your account: verification, mentions, replies, reviews, and gym membership updates. You can turn notification emails off in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in each email. Account emails (like verification) are still sent.
- To prevent abuse, enforce our Terms, fix bugs, and comply with the law.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't use your content to train AI models.
3. Who can see your information
- Other users: your name, username, profile picture, belt, coach status, and gym memberships are visible to other signed-in users. Videos, comments, and timed comments are visible according to the settings you choose: only you, members of selected gyms, or everyone with an account. Nothing on the Service is visible to people who aren't signed in, except these legal pages.
- Gym owners and coaches: can see their gym's member list, join requests, content shared with the gym, and review requests sent to the gym.
- Administrators: a small number of Service administrators can access data when needed to operate, secure, and moderate the Service.
4. Service providers
We use these providers to run the Service. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us:
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Neon: database hosting.
- Cloudflare: network delivery, security, and file storage.
- Our own servers: some video storage and video processing run on servers we operate.
- Resend: sending email.
- Google: sign-in, if you choose it.
- Anthropic: if AI-generated titles and descriptions are turned on and you request a suggestion, a few still frames from the video and its current details are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to produce it. Depending on configuration, this may instead run on an AI server we operate ourselves, in which case nothing is sent to a third party.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of any person, to respond to valid legal requests, or as part of a merger or transfer of the Service (and we'd tell you first).
5. Cookies and local storage
We use only what the Service needs to work:
- Sign-in session and security (CSRF) cookies.
- A cookie that remembers whether the sidebar is open.
- Your browser's local storage, to resume an interrupted upload.
We don't use advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies.
6. How long we keep it
- We keep account information and content for as long as your account exists, or until you delete it.
- When you delete a video, we delete its original file and processed copies from storage.
- Unfinished uploads are cleaned up after about a week.
- Email verification links expire after 24 hours.
- When you delete your account, we delete your personal information and content within 30 days. Copies in backups may last a short time longer until those backups expire. We may keep limited records if the law requires it or to resolve disputes.
7. Your choices and rights
- Edit your name, username, picture, belt, and notification settings in Settings.
- Change who can see each video and timed comment, or delete them, at any time.
- Leave gyms and unfollow people.
- Email support@jiujitsuplus.app to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account. We'll answer within 30 days and may need to confirm the request is really from you.
Depending on where you live (for example, California under the CCPA/CPRA, or the EU/UK under the GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or move your data, to object to or restrict some processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. We will honor these rights and won't treat you differently for using them. Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to provide the Service you signed up for (contract), for our legitimate interests in keeping it safe and working, and with your consent where we ask for it.
8. Security
We protect data with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, encrypted storage of service credentials, signed short-lived links for video files, and access checks on every request. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
9. Children
The Service isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Users aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian's permission. Kids' classes and competitions often appear in footage. Anyone uploading must have permission from a parent or guardian of any identifiable minor. A parent or guardian who wants footage of their child removed can email support@jiujitsuplus.app, and we'll act promptly.
10. International users
The Service is operated from the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the Service, you understand that your information will be transferred there.
11. Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we'll notify you in the Service or by email before it takes effect.
12. Contact
